Coalition 9: Self-Care Visually Noted | TwoLine Studios

This morning, our founder, Heather Willems, participated in a workshop (and took visual notes) at a Coalition9 event. Taking care of minds and bodies is the foundation for strong leadership. The panelist noted how we care for ourselves models behavior for our partners, employees, family members, and others in our community.

If you haven’t heard of Coalition 9, it provides peer-to-peer advisory groups focusing on leadership development. C9 memberships are designed to promote interactive learning regardless of what stage you're at on your journey while connecting you to the resources and people that will help you be your best. Check out what the C9 panelists covered.

100+ leaders met at Alchemy 365 in NorthEast Minneapolis to put their wellness knowledge to the test. This is what we heard in the session.

Fitness:

Mike Jones addressed the importance of a fit lifestyle. He emphasized the importance of accepting one's current state while acknowledging the potential for improvement. Mike highlighted the value of a positive mindset and prioritizing individual health will ripple benefits across your business, family, and personal life. Lifestyle habits were discussed, noting that consistency in physical exertion is key. The participants encouraged scheduling fitness activities, making them convenient, and embracing incremental changes for better health.

Nutrition:

Brittney Hegg spoke about nutrition and let the audience of entrepreneurs and high performers know that you will not ALWAYS eat balance. She discussed that there is no such thing as "bad" food and encouraged choosing something to eat over nothing. Brittney highlighted the importance of incorporating plant-based sources of protein and fiber into one's diet. Like the other panelists, she made note of a need for experimentation to find what works best for each individual and advocated for a balanced approach to nutrition.

Mental Health:

April Seifert focused on mental health and self-care. She made the audience aware that our MIND is just like our organs regarding stress. She highlighted the importance of creating psychological distance from anxious thoughts and reclaiming control over one's mind. The participants discussed the holistic nature of wellness, including activities that support mental well-being. She spoke about a pyramid of self-care, including addressing basic needs such as food, sleep, and safety. Supporting what is best for you, and the “nice to haves” like messages or journalling.

Thank you to Coalition 9 for the programming and to all of those in the community! It is wonderful to see us all taking action to care for our greatest asset, ourselves.
